What to do in Malaga?

Malaga, millenary and cosmopolitan in the past, preserves its historical roots intact. If in ancient times it witnessed the origins of man and the Mediterranean culture, today it has become the leading power of the Andalusian tourist industry, it keeps alive its tradition as a welcoming and creative land.

Maritime Malaga on its coast where it is never winter; Of a mountain vocation, inland, where nature is shown in all its splendour. White villages with beautiful architecture, shrouded in romantic legends, put their point of light in the hidden valleys where life flows placidly. And from the high mountains, the gaze spans the horizon until it is lost in the blue immensity of the sea.

Localization
The province of Malaga is located to the south of the Mediterranean coast, between the provinces of Granada and Cadiz, and bordered to the north by the provinces of Cordoba and Seville.

History
Between the sea and the mountains runs the history of this peculiar province, whose capital witnessed the economic and cultural take-off of the western Mediterranean. Phoenician Malaka became a thriving trading center. After the Muslim invasion of the 8th century, its territory was Arabized, later integrated into the Nasrid kingdom of Granada and experienced a new period of commercial and cultural heyday.

In the nineteenth century, the iron and steel mills, the powerful textile industry of the Larios and the commercialization of their wines, provided an important economic development to the province.

After decades of crisis, in the second half of the 20th century, Malaga achieved rapid economic growth thanks to the tourism industry. Every year millions of citizens from all over the world choose this paradisiacal land to rest on its sunny beaches, get to know its rich monumental heritage or delve into the wild beauty of its mountain geography.

Landscape
The province of Malaga has more than 160 kilometres of coastline. The Mediterranean Sea directly bathes a total of 14 municipalities in Malaga. It is possible to go to hidden enclaves where the purest nature surrounds the environment, or more touristy and consolidated spaces. Both the eastern and western parts of the province have beaches that are so attractive that they have made the Costa del Sol a world-class destination.

We cannot forget the interior landscape, with more than 15 protected areas as reserves, places or natural monuments. Places that run from the depths of the Mediterranean to the high peaks. Magical forests and rivers where it is still possible to find foxes, golden eagles or mountain goats.
